Compare the 2016 and 2017 Chevy Silverado

2016 Chevy Silverado vs 2017 Chevy Silverado

With more and more 2017 models arriving in our new Chevrolet inventory, we thought it would be a good time to look at a few of the heavy hitters in this category to see what’s new for the upcoming model year. In this 2016 Chevy Silverado vs 2017 Chevy Silverado comparison, this full-size, light-duty truck sees minor changes to enhance exterior style, driver comfort, and safety.

2017 Chevy Silverado Style

The 2017 Chevy Silverado will continue with the same body and trim options as in 2016, but with some changes to specific packages. Slate Grey, Tungsten , and Autumn Bronze exterior colors have been discontinued, and Graphite and Pepperdust have been added. The luxurious High Country trim will also now come standard with a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

2017 Silverado 1500 New Technology Options

The changes from the 2016 Chevy Silverado to the 2017 Chevy Silverado are not just cosmetic. There are also some impressive new technology enhancements coming for the new model year that we have seen before on other Chevy vehicles, but will be more readily available now on the 2017 Chevy Silverado. Some of them include:

  • Teen Driver Mode – Allows parents to set restrictions on top speed and sound system volume to help learning drivers develop good habits.
  • Low Speed Mitigation Braking – Added to the Enhanced Driver Alert Package (which will be standard on the High Country trim and available on other models) low speed mitigation braking helps drivers minimize an impact in the case of an accident.
  • Android Auto – The Android Auto smartphone compatibility system will join Apple CarPlay in making the 2017 Chevy Silverado even easier to interact with.

2016 Chevy Silverado and 2017 Chevy Silverado Similarities

These are a few of the new features on the 2017 Chevy Silverado that were either unavailable or only had limited availability on the 2016 Chevy Silverado. We don’t believe there will be any significant powertrain changes on this light-duty, full-size truck for the new model year, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability will once again return. The Chevy Silverado will continue to be a high-quality truck that can do great work for individuals and families. Schedule your test drive for a 2017 Chevy Silverado today!

  • Currently own the 2016 Silverado, looking at 2017. What did they change in the engine that gave it so much more towing capacity? It's the same engine. Is there a way to upgrade mine?
