2016 Volkswagen Passat Top Safety Pick Plus

The 2016 Volkswagen Passat, like the 2015 model, has beeen named as a IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Any top safety pick has received the top “Good” score for side and moderate overlap crash testing. They also have to earn a Good rating for the new small overlap front impact test, as well as roof strength and seat and head restraint tests. The Passat specifically also rated a good in the ease of use of the LATCH Child Seat Anchor system. A Good rating in this category is not necessary to earn a Top Safety Pick nomination, but it shows how the Passat is designed to optimize safety for passengers of every age.

The 2016 Passat earned the Plus rating this year in the midsize and moderately priced car category for having standard automatic post-collision braking (which means that, when enabled, this system will automatically slow the vehicle when it detects a possible collision). Other available driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, blind spot detection, and a rear traffic alert.
