The star of the 2025 Chevy Suburban powertrain lineup is an upgraded 3.0-liter Duramax® inline-six turbodiesel engine married to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The second-generation 3.0-liter Duramax® engine is more powerful than its predecessor – making 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque – a 10% increase in horsepower and a 7.6% increase in torque. When equipped for towing, the Chevy Suburban will handle up to 8,200 pounds of cargo.
