The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine produces 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 generates an impressive 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Explorer Has Sophisticated Transmission Options 

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift capability. The 3.3-liter hybrid engine is paired with a modular hybrid transmission. 

Drive Options  

The 2023 Ford Explorer is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on the engine and trim level. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and the hybrid engine are available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 is only available with all-wheel drive. 

The Ford Explorer Comes with Surprisingly Good Fuel Efficiency 

The 2023 Ford Explorer with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and rear-wheel drive gets an estimate of 24 mpg together. The all-wheel drive version gets EPA average estimate of 23 mpg. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with all-wheel drive gets an estimated 20 mpg overall. Meanwhile, the hybrid engine gets roughly 27 mpg (about 10 cents per mile).
