Signs that You Need a New Battery Soon
Engine Struggles to Start
Your engine relies on electricity provided by the battery in order to start. Without enough power, the engine will struggle to start, and you may end up stranded the next time you try to turn on your vehicle.
Headlights are Dim and Electrical Features Don’t Work Properly
Not only does your battery provide electricity to your engine, but it powers every electrical component in your car. This includes your headlights, power windows, air conditioning, radio, and more. If your battery is starting to fail, it may not provide enough power to these features, leading to dimmer headlights and/or problems with working any of your electrical amenities.
Corrosion on the Connectors
Sometimes, the battery itself may still be good yet it struggles to supply the power needed for your vehicle to run. It’s always a good idea to take a look at your battery and see if there is any corrosion on the connectors. Corrosion will be white or blue in color, appear flaky, and block electrical connections. If you notice this, you will need to get the corrosion cleaned off. After it is cleaned, test your battery.
How Long Does a Car Battery Last?
Even with good care, batteries will give out eventually. On average, car batteries tend to last approximately three or four years. This can vary, however, due to factors such as how often you drive and the environment in which you live in.
