Premium Torque on the 2017 Ford F-150
The second generation 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost promises to offer even more horsepower and torque than previous years. It will be rated for 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. With this gain of 10 horsepower and 50 pound-feet, the 2017 Ford F-150 should easily secure the title of best-in-class torque. With this premium power, the new EcoBoost will be able to beat out all competitors, even those with diesel engines. This engine will also offer more torque than many much larger V8 engines.
“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer, in a recent press release. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”
Ford Real-World Performance
The 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost on the 2017 Ford F-150 will be paired exclusively with the new 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to previous powertrains, this EcoBoost option on the famous F-150 should deliver stronger acceleration and improved towing and hauling. The EcoBoost name also means that these capability enhancements shouldn’t come at a huge cost in fuel efficiency compared to previous models.
