We’ve already touched on the all-new 2020 Silverado HD models, following the Silverado 1500 into the fourth generation a year after it was completely redesigned. Now, we figured we’d highlight the Silverado 1500. Naturally, not a ton has changed in the model considering it was just redesigned last year. “We designed the all-new Silverado and the all-new 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel to deliver both performance and efficiency. The engine utilizes the state-of-the-art technologies to optimize every drop of fuel and takes advantage of architectural changes to make Silverado larger, lighter and more aerodynamic than before. The resulting combination offers all of the performance, refinement and capability customers want in a full-size truck, with highway fuel efficiency you would expect from a family sedan.”

3.0L Duramax Turbo-diesel Engine Specs & Capabilities
The new engine manages to generate an SAE-certified 277 horsepower alongside 460 pound-feet of torque, which enables the Silverado 1500 to haul a max payload of 1,870 pounds and tow an additional 9,300 lbs. behind it.
Power isn’t what’s most exciting about a turbo-diesel engine though, it’s the incredible fuel economy the diesel engine enables the heavy truck to achieve. When equipped with the standard rear-wheel drive system, the Silverado Duramax achieves 33 miles per gallon on the highway and 23 mpg through the city. Upgrading to four-wheel drive only drops things down to 29 mpg highway and 23 mpg city.
Those are some pretty incredible numbers. Paired to its exclusive Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission, you know you’re going to get the most out of this incredible diesel truck. Be sure to stay tuned for further updates about the Chevy Silverado and more right here on our blog.
