The Best Chevrolet Safety Features for Teen Drivers

Chevrolet Teen Driver Technology

With the academic year fast approaching, more teenagers will be out on the road driving to and from school during busy traffic hours.  Luckily, Chevrolet offers their innovative Teen Driver Technology to help monitor and keep teens safe while driving.  This technology is great for teaching new drivers not only how to drive, but also how to stay safe on the road.

Compared to adult drivers, teenagers are much more likely to speed, and only about 55% of them even wear their seatbelts!  With the Teen Driver mode on your teen’s Chevy, parents can customize special features to ensure that your teen has set limits and gets in the habit of taking precautions while driving, and not having so many distractions available.  These features can even be made key specific, so if you share the vehicle with your son or daughter, their key will tell the Chevy to be in Teen Driver mode.

Some of the Teen Driver features include:

  • Muting audio until passengers are buckled
  • Automatically turning on Side Blind Zone Alert
  • Front Automatic Braking
  • Setting warnings for when the vehicle travels faster than the preselected speed
  • Setting a volume limit on music

These features can be set up in the Chevrolet MyLink display by entering a PIN in order to access the Teen Driver menu.  From there, you can register your teen’s key, so that when they start the vehicle with that key, the Teen Driver mode is enabled.  Then the Chevy will monitor your teen’s driving and will create report cards to see where improvements need to be made.  Allowing parents to be able to practice with their teen in areas that they may struggle with, such as maintaining a safe speed.

Teen Driver helps coach your teens on driving, even when you’re not there. Contact us for more information.
