Hyundai Virtual Guide
Most people have had one of those days when the car starts making a horrible noise, or the fans buzz, or you just cannot find your hazard lights. At times like that, reaching for the heavy, bulky, hopefully-it’s-in-the-glove-box owners manual, you aren’t sure you even know what you will be looking for. That is where the Hyundai Virtual Guide App is going to revolutionize the way we fix our cars.
What is the Hyundai Virtual Guide?
The Hyundai Virtual Guide is a new “augmented reality” manual that will be accessible through a smartphone or tablet computer and will offer basic step-by-step instructions on repairs, maintenance, and features of Hyundai vehicles. Just announced this week, the Hyundai Virtual Guide App is going make the traditional owners manual obsolete.
Becoming available later this year, the Hyundai Virtual Guide will be available from the Apple App store and Google Play and will be calibrated for the 2015 Hyundai Sonata, with other vehicle models to be added as time goes on.

Hyundai 3D Owner’s Manual
New tracking technology will allow Hyundai drivers to learn more about their vehicle in a real-time way. Just by moving their camera over an area of their vehicle they would like to learn more about, they can get information and how-to directions for basic issues. The Virtual Guide have easy-to-access information on features like: air filter, smart cruise control, Bluetooth phone pairing, warning lights, clokc, engine oil and brake fluid, fuse box, and smart trunk.
“The Virtual Guide is aimed at educating our owners on how to use the functions and features of their vehicle,” said Frank Ferrara, executive vice president, customer satisfaction, Hyundai Motor America, in a recent Hyundai press release. “We modernized the idea of an owner’s manual to provide the highest-quality user experience for the growing population of tech savvy consumers.”
Based on a massive user survey, the Hyundai Virtual Guide will feature many of the most hard-to-understand aspects of vehicle ownership. Assistance pieces for owners include how-to videos, 3D overlay images and over 50 informational guides. This sounds like the next revolution in how our cars and our smartphones can support each other. It will be very exciting to see the Hyundai Virtual Guide in action when it is released later this year.
