You’ll notice that the T-Prime Concept GTE is going to become a part of the Volkswagen SUV lineup in the future, so let’s take a closer look at this swanky new concept.
Outstanding All-Wheel Drive Hybrid Performance
Unlike the Volkswagen BUDD-e Concept minibus unveiled earlier this year, the T-Prime Concept is a hybrid equipped with both a gas engine and an electric motor that can be charged via plug-in. Together, this powertrain will be able to deliver up to 375 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The T-Prime Concept will be able to drive up to 31 miles using electric power alone, which is perfect for moderate city commuting. In GTE mode, this Concept SUV can accelerate to 60 mph in just six seconds.
Bye Bye Buttons – Hello Human-Machine Interface
The entire front dashboard becomes a configurable touchscreen on the Volkswagen T-Prime Concept. Not just the area in the dash that is usually used for some kind of infotainment display, but also the instrumentation cluster and the central island have been consumed by a new kind of interactive system. Responding to voice commands, gestures, and touchscreen inputs, the Volkswagen Human Machine Interface (HMI) is a new step in effortless automotive connectivity.
Confident and Luxurious Good Looks
The Volkswagen T-Prime Concept features elegance in the interior and exterior alike. With its sporty rear roofline and bold-front grille it makes a confident design statement. The interior abounds with high-quality materials, including luxurious blue leather steering wheel and dashboard accents, cool aluminum and warm wood highlights, and glossy black backgrounds.
We’re extremely excited about the Volkswagen T-Prime concept and the rest of the Volkswagen SUV lineup in 2016 and beyond. Keep watching this blog for more updates on this SUV and other Volkswagen vehicles.
