2022 Hyundai Tucson Gasoline and Hybrid Engine Options

2022 Tucson Gasoline Engine Specs
Standard in the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, the Smartstream™ 2.5L gasoline engine will produce 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the strongest engine in the 2021 Tucson, these specs are highly impressive. With the 2021 Tucson engine, its optional engine capped at 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to more horsepower and torque, it’s expected that the new Smartstream™ engine in the 2022 Hyundai Tucson will be more fuel-efficient than the strongest 2021 Tucson engine. While EPA will need to test for exact efficiency, the target fuel economy for this new engine is 28 combined MPG. With the optional 2021 Tucson engine, the combined MPG was 25.
2022 Tucson Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Options
Drivers that wish to upgrade their powertrain further will now have the option to select a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain. With the hybrid option selected, the 2022 Tucson will receive a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine along with a 44.2 kW electric motor and a 1.49 kWh battery pack. Alone, the engine will offer 177 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Combined with the motor, the hybrid 2022 Tucson will generate roughly 226 combined horsepower and 258 combined pound-feet of torque. When working together, the Tucson will offer approximately 30% more fuel efficiency, 20% more torque, and over 500 miles of range.
2022 Tucson plug-in hybrid models will also incorporate the 1.6L turbocharged engine. The battery with the plug-in hybrid model will be larger and offer 13.8 kWh of power. Currently, it is estimated that the all-electric range with the plug-in hybrid option is 28 miles and its combined fuel economy surpasses 70 MPGe.
