Next year will mark the twentieth anniversary of the Hyundai brand’s ever-popular Santa Fe utility vehicle. It joined the lineup all the way back in the 2001 model year as a midsize crossover, and it has stayed true to itself ever since. It has undergone plenty of changes and different configurations throughout the years, but we’re just as stoked about the new 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in Green Bay WI as we have been for every Santa Fe model that preceded it.
Last year marked the beginning of the SUV’s fourth generation after spending six years in its third (the second generation ran from 2007 to 2012). Through the years, we’ve also seen nameplates like the Santa Fe Sport and Santa Fe XL. The former is what we just call the Santa Fe today, while the latter is the 3-row midsize crossover that used to be called the Santa Fe before becoming the Santa Fe XL for 2019 and then getting replaced by the Palisade.
Now, there is only the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. One model, one configuration, but a great option. For the new 2020 model year, the Santa Fe did undergo a few additional changes and enhancements. The newly developed Blind-View Monitor technology is standard on the Limited trim level, as are premium door sill plates. Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Safe Exit Assist are now standard equipment on the SEL trim level and up while Rear Occupant Alert is standard on SE and SEL models. Wireless device charing is now standard on the SEL trim equipped with the Convenience package and up. Finally, a dark chrome exterior trim was added all Limited exterior color options.
We thought we’d also give you the rundown on powertrain options, as either is viable but they’re both very different. On the one hand, you have a 2.4L 4-cylinder that delivers 185 horsepower alongside 178 pound-feet of torque, but on the other there is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder capable of generating 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque. Whichever trim level or powertrain you choose, you’re sure to fall in love with the new 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe!
